Tips to Lower Your Energy Bill this Spring

With Spring rapidly approaching, temperatures are beginning to rise in the Gulf region and beyond.  Electric bills are also rising as a result, so PICA has some simple tips to help keep your monthly energy expenses down and your property cool as we enter the warm months of the year.

Covering windows keeps out heat.  Make sure window coverings such as curtains, shades, and blinds are installed at your property to prevent heat gain through your windows during the day.

Turn off ceiling fans when you leave the room.  Fans create a windchill effect meant to cool people, not rooms.

Keep vents unobstructed.  Vacuum your air intake vents regularly to remove any dust buildup and ensure that furniture and other objects are not blocking the airflow through your registers.

Keep thermostat at normal setting.  Setting your air conditioning at a lower temperature than normal when you first turn it on will not cool your property any quicker, and could result in excessive cooling and unnecessary expense.

Just a few small changes can make a significant difference in lowering your monthly energy bill and allow you to keep more of your money in your pocket.  As we continue making our way through the new year, PICA wishes you a safe and happy Spring!
